Event Recorder
Observational Coding System Tools (OCS Tools) software allows the user to enter codes directly into the computer and can be used to code live events or those recorded on videotape. Additional descriptive information may be added for a code during or after a coding session. Sequential coding can be used for discrete events, while start/stop coding can be used for overlapping or parallel events.

In this picture a pre-recorded video is being watched as codes are entered using OCS Tools software. In other circumstances the monitor would be showing a live feed from the research area. With a live video feed the observer doesn't need to be in the same room as the subject and with a pre recorded tape the researcher can be anywhere. |
